Hello everybody!
Firstly, i would just like to say what a pleasure it was to meet all of the students attending the Innovative Students here in Singapore, and how great it is to be able to put a face to the names and finally get to meet the people behind the in-depth discussion from the online dialogue.
A bit about myself; I am from New Zealand, It is a small country in the southern hemisphere, it consists of 2 islands, the "North Island" and the "South Island", I live in a small town by the beach on the North Island.
Unfortunatly, i must also say that i have not travelled that much as i come from a working class family without money to spend on trips or vacations. So this is my first time visiting another country, and i must say Singapore was an amazing place to start. The food, the people and most impressivly the arcitecture and culture is simply amazing, Seeing such beautiful buildings and plantations everywhere is so amazing and as seeing the deeply involved cultures and diverse interaction is very cool.
So today was our first full day of activities and workshops, we started at 9:30 and went through until 7, with 5 very interesting and engaging workshops. In New Zealand usual school days only go from 8:30am - 3pm so this was almost double a normal school day for me, but as it was so engaging it didn't feel that long at all. I particularly enjoyed the opening speaker, Penny Low, who delivered a very emotional yet motivational opening speech. I also enjoyed Brian's workshop on how to make a project marketable and how to make funders WANT to fund your project and how to put yourself across as a project.
So overall it has been an amazing experience so far, everybody is very friendly and i can already see some great friendships beginning, and this is only the beginning, So i can bearly imagine the week i am about to undertake. So with those words i am going to leave you all with a picture taken today showing our own Terry presenting a very engaging workshop being very energetic and involving!
